Pärnu International Theatre Festival, „MONOMAFFIA“
We invite you to Pärnu’s Third Annual International Theater Festival which will be held during the apple scented, twilight evenings of August 2012.
MONOMAFFIA focuses on the actor as the main point of interest without which the play could not take place. On stage is a man or a woman and opposite them is the audience. Monologue plays allow for an intimate and special connection between actor and audience. Since the actor is on stage without a partner, audience participation becomes especially important in creating synergy. It is impossible for the actor to hide behind anything. The focus of everyone’s attention is upon the actor and every detail through which the actor’s role evolves and the story unfolds.
The theater party is destined to celebrate a diversified collection of events which will come to a climax during the festival’s main program August 16-18, 2012. Pärnu will be transformed into a performing arts summer camp during these three days and will provide great theatrical experiences to local festival goers as well as to out of town guests. A great opportunity to make a trip to Pärnu, the summer capital of Estonia and allow yourself the opportunity to meet with theater people before the beginning of the new season!
The program for the three day festival includes monologue plays from Estonia as well as from neighboring countries. There are a variety of genres which will appeal to different age groups. The actors include not only experienced theater people but young people as well. You´ll be drawn to tears and made to laugh out loud.
It’s a pleasure being in Pärnu in the month of August!
